The Palace Theatre in Historic Georgetown will open
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas
on Friday, May 16, to run for 5 weekends.
With book by Larry L. King & Peter
Masterson and music & lyrics by Carol Hall, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas is
directed by Mary Ellen Butler, the Palace Theatre’s Artistic Director, and
generously sponsored by D’Vine Wine of Georgetown.
This happy-go-lucky view of small town vice and
statewide political sidestepping recounts the good times and the demise of the
“Chicken Ranch,” known since the 1850s as one of the better pleasure palaces in
all of Texas. Governors, senators, mayors, and even
victorious college football teams frequent Miss Mona’s cozy bordello until that
puritan nemesis ‘Watchdog’ focuses his television cameras and his righteous
indignation on the institution.
This wonderful show will rock you with laughter – and tug at your heart
strings. Rated
PG-15 for strong language and sexual
content.
